Call for submission to:
"Stark: Seeing the Body"
"Stark: Seeing the Body"
-The exhibition is open to anyone and everyone who would like to submit a figurative image that is a view of the body. The bulk of submissions would presumably be artists involved with the regular practice of drawing, painting or sculpting from life.
-The show will run for the whole month of March 2011 at the McMillan Gallery in Parksville.
-reception on the first Friday evening in March.
-The show will be semi-informal in the sense that not all two-dimensional works (drawings, paintings, and collages) have to be framed. But all (including sculptures and mixed media) should be ready for presentation. Unframed works on paper can be tacked or clipped and tacked to the wall. If you don't want the drawing perforated by a pin or finishing nail, provide small bulldog clips, for example, which will be attached to the drawing and these will be attached to the wall. Every effort will be made by the gallery to not damage work, however, if you consider an image, on paper for example, to be exceptionally valuable then you should perhaps put it behind glass.
-Depending on the number of submissions a limit may have to be placed on works hung. Multiple submissions by one artist might have to be reduced at the time of hanging. Every effort will be made to hang all submitting artists.
-Works can be for sale. The gallery takes a commission of 30%.
