Dawn and I are constantly being asked about our red crayon holders at life drawing sessions. I'm just ordering some more crayons for mine from Curry's and notice that they're only 10 bucks for the holder plus the crayons. Dawn and I bought ours 30 years ago at art college, and I don't think they were much cheaper. So much for inflation. Here's a link to the page at Curry's online store:

Comox Life Drawing Group

Life Drawing has started up in Comox at Henriette Beaudoin's studio. Here's the info that she has sent out:

Welcome back from wherever you have been holidaying this summer!

The drawing sessions are starting again, but differently. I am trying to use my studio more often and keep the gallery open, so this is the plan. I await your feedback and suggestions.
The plan:
4-6 sessions per month spread over the two or three days in a row
depending on how many participants wish to take part.

You might take part once a day over the two or three days,
one day only, morning, afternoon and/or evening session.
The fee would be a flat $10 per 2.5 hour session.

I am planning the first group of drawing days for September 22, 23 and 24th.
Times 9:30 am - 12:00 pm, 12:30 - 3:00 pm and/or 7:00 - 9:30 pm.

Reserving a space requires pre-payment to ensure that the model's fees are covered.

9:30 am - 12:00 pm - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
6-2 minute poses, 2-20 minute poses and 1-1 hour pose
1/2 hour break
8 participants
and/or
12:30 pm - 3:00 pm - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
6-2 minute poses and 3-1/2 hour pose
2-15 minute breaks
7 participants
and/or
7:00 pm - 9:30 pm - Wednesday and Thursday
6-2 minute poses, 2-20 minute poses and 1-1 hour pose
1/2 hour break
8 participants

Commitment to studio etiquette
Arrival
5 - 15 minutes prior to session to allow for set-up and prevent shuffling already prepared artists. The studio is open 15 minutes prior to the session beginning, arrival prior to this 15 minutes may mean a wait outside.
Depart
during breaks only if leaving early.
Care and respect
for the walls, cabinets and trim. The gallery is open every afternoon and needs to be in good condition for the public.
Tables folded and placed
on platform at the end of the day.

Optional
Treats during the break are very appreciated. Do you want a sign up sheet?
Music?...I still don't have an iPod, but I have an iPod player if someone wants to share their art sensitive music.

If you know of someone who wants to do life drawing, please feel free to give them my email address.

I am also planning a life drawing session (lightly clothed) for high school students who wish to become comfortable drawing the human form. If you know someone who might be interested, please give them my email address. I already have a couple of students on the waitlist.

Thank you, hope to hear from you soon.
Henrie
