Clive, you really know how to make all those lines work-- how inspiring! Gives the figures lots of substance. I might try practicing in your style sometime, if that's okay with you (I'm not sure what the etiquette is on that, but I'm trying to expand--). I want to experience a different use of lines.

I'm not totally convinced the many-line thing isn't just failure to concentrate and draw more lucidly, but it can give the appearance of substance. It risks being a bit like mountaineering and climbing: 'if you don't know your knots, tie lots'. I like the idea of doing just a simple expressive and observant line, so I may try your approach sometime. I might need a light table and second piece of paper to pull it off though!
